I have never really enjoyed working in grids very much. However while working on a catalog project this semester I found that it worked extremely well and kept me very organized. Some of the math behind grids seems to be a little beyond my intellectual boundaries, but I find the optical parts of it all quite interesting.
When it relates things like the golden rectangle and basically connect the dots, I can follow, and might want to try it for fun.
This series of tutorials did that for me, well almost did that for me. Let's face it, I'm not going to design a catalog for fun just to try out a grid. This tutorial is quite good and interesting though. I do want to try and make things following this style next semester.
